Wild Alaskan Company does one thing — wild-caught Alaskan seafood — and they do it better than anyone in the direct-to-consumer space. Sockeye and king salmon, halibut, and cod arrive individually vacuum-sealed and frozen at peak freshness. The sourcing is traceable, the fishing practices are sustainable, and the product quality is as good as you will find outside of a serious fishmonger.
What we liked
- Wild-caught sourcing, sustainably harvested
- Sockeye salmon quality is genuinely exceptional
- Individual vacuum-sealed portions make meal planning simple
- Flexible subscription cadence with easy skip and cancel
- Genuinely informative sourcing information for each species
What held it back
- Limited to seafood — no crossover into beef or poultry
- Halibut and cod quality is excellent but less of a standout than the salmon
- Subscription-only model with no true a la carte option
Boxes we tested
$132/mo
Wild Salmon Box
All salmon — sockeye and king — at 3 lbs per month. The purist choice. King is extraordinary.
$132/mo
Mixed Seafood Box
Salmon, halibut, and cod. Good variety for households that want more than one species.
$132/mo
Salmon + Halibut
The most popular configuration. Salmon for weeknights, halibut for something more considered.
If wild salmon is a priority in your household, this is the service. Nothing else in the direct-to-consumer space delivers this quality of wild-caught Alaskan seafood at this price.
